Increasing survival

Double-D is a project investigating the effect of early double defibrillation, performed by paramedics, in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with ventricular fibrillation as compared to standard treatment.

The purpose of this project is to investigate whether early double defibrillation (i.e., before three failed standard defibrillations) in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with ventricular fibrillation could increase survival when compared to standard defibrillation.

As a first step, this Swedish pilot study was designed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of early DSD.
